Hairstyle Atlas vs. FaceApp
FaceApp is a mobile app best known for its face filters: ageing, smiles, beards and a set of hairstyle effects. It is quick, entertaining and subscription-based, with a free tier that has limits, per their public pages. The hairstyle set leans stylised rather than salon-real, as of writing.
HairstyleAtlas does one job: it shows you the haircut on your own face before you commit. One selfie, about 20 seconds, 120+ cuts and colours, each matched to your face shape and hair type. A skin fade is a guess until you have seen it on you. This page is for people deciding whether a filter app is enough, or whether they need a proper haircut simulator before they tell their barber.

The verdict
FaceApp is better at being FaceApp. It is fast, funny, and covers far more than hair: ageing, expressions, full face edits. If you want to entertain a group chat, it wins.
But a filter is entertainment, and a haircut is weeks of regrowth. If the question is whether a fade or a crop will actually suit you, a photorealistic render matched to your face shape answers it and a stylised filter does not. Browse the full hairstyle list, then try your first look free before you tell your barber.
Common questions
Is FaceApp good enough for choosing a haircut?
For fun, yes. Its hairstyle set is limited and stylised as of writing, so as a preview of a real cut it is a rough guide. If the goal is a decision you will pay a barber to execute, a photorealistic render matched to your face shape is the safer bet.
Do I need to install anything to use HairstyleAtlas?
No. It runs in the browser on any phone or laptop, with nothing to install. Your photo is sent only when you ask for a render, and the render comes back in about 20 seconds. FaceApp requires a mobile app install, as of writing.
What does each one cost?
FaceApp uses a subscription with a limited free tier, per their public pages; we will not quote their exact prices here. Ours are Starter at $9 a month and Pro at $24 a month at intro prices, both monthly and cancellable in two clicks. The first look is free, no card.
One selfie. No card. About twenty seconds.
