Long hair, before you give it two years

Long hair is the only change on this site you get by waiting rather than by deciding, which is exactly what makes it hard to picture. Hair grows around a centimetre a month, so collarbone to mid-back is about two years, most of it spent at lengths nobody chose on purpose. This long hair filter jumps to the end: mid-back length, long face-framing layers, butterfly layers, a fringe grown out and tucked behind the ears. Your face, your skin tone and the lighting in the original shot stay exactly where they were, and only length and shape change. Worth looking at before you hand two years to a grow-out, or a Saturday and a large bill to tape-in extensions.

Real lengths

Collarbone, bra-strap, mid-back, waist. Pick the length you are actually aiming at instead of saying long and hoping the mirror agrees in two years.

Layers or blunt

One length hangs heavy and blunt at the bottom. Long face-framing layers and butterfly layers move more, but they cost you thickness through the ends.

The awkward stage

The hard part of any grow-out is the shoulder-length middle. Look at that stage too, because it is where most people give up and cut it off.

Extensions or patience

Tape-ins and wefts buy the length in an afternoon at a price. Seeing it on your own face first tells you whether either route is worth it.

Length behaves differently with a fringe, so try the bangs filter next, and see the same length shredded into heavy layers on the wolf cut try-on. Colour reads further down long lengths, so check the balayage try-on, or browse the rest of the shapes in the women's hairstyle try-on. Upload one photo; the first look is free and needs no account.

Questions about the long Hair Filter

Straight answers, no hedging.

Will the longer hair still look like my hair?

It should. Your face, skin tone, expression and lighting come straight from your photo and are not altered, and the added length is built to match your own colour and texture rather than dropping a stock hairstyle over you. If it stops looking like you, the render has failed at its job.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

It is used to create your render and kept in your library, where only you can see it. No account is required, and the privacy policy explains what happens to your photo.

How realistic is the grow-out?

It is a reference image, not a forecast. It shows proportion honestly: how mid-back length frames your face, how much width layers add. It cannot know how your ends will thin as they get longer, how fast your hair grows, or whether breakage will stop you reaching that length.

How long would this actually take to grow?

Roughly a centimetre a month for most people, so shoulder to mid-back is around eighteen months to two years, and chin to mid-back is longer. The filter cannot speed that up. What it can do is tell you whether the destination is worth the wait before you start.

Can I add layers or a fringe to the long length?

Yes. Long face-framing layers, butterfly layers, curtain bangs and a grown-out fringe can all sit on the same length, and the difference between them is large. Try one length with layers and the same length blunt, then compare the two side by side.

Is this useful if I am considering extensions?

It is one of the better uses for it. Extensions buy the length quickly, but you still need to know which length suits your face and how much weight you want around it. Look at the result first, then decide whether to grow it or pay for it.
